"Every animal's life is meaningful and they all deserve loving homes."
The mission of The Ark Animal Sanctuary is to rescue and provide food, shelter,
medical assistance, love and compassion to any animal in need, regardless of age
and medical condition that cannot otherwise be placed with a contracted facility.
We will take full responsibility of every animal placed with us until they find new
loving and forever homes.
The Ark is a no-kill organization. Euthanasia will only be considered when a
veterinarian recommends it for the best interest of the animal.
We believe every animal's life is meaningful and they all deserve loving homes.
The Ark Animal Sanctuary is an all-volunteer, donor-supported registered 501(c)3
non-profit charitable organization.
Your donations are greatly appreciated and are tax-deductible.
We are always in need of Foster Homes for animals that come in and can't be placed immediately into permanent homes.
If you would like to be a temporary Foster Home for an animal in need (please note, we will provide for food & vet care), please complete & submit a Foster Application.
Lost your pet or found someone else's?
Please contact your town and ACO and local animal shelter with a description and supply
a photo, if possible. Every Maine town must contract with an animal shelter and strays/
animals-at-large are the responsibility of ACOs and those facilities. Getting a description
in front of these people will greatly help in getting found pets returned home.
You can also post on local radio, in newspapers and tv, as well as post fliers locally. Use Facebook and alert all your local friends.

MOOSE is one of our FIV+ kitties. He is about 5 years old, a great indication FIV is NOT the death sentence expounded by misinformation.
Moose has had dental issues which have been taken care of. The last time being the time that saved his life, as he was brought from the sanctuary home into foster to prep him for his dental visit just two days before the catastrophic fire which claimed 16 beloved kitty lives.
Moose will be adoptable as soon as his all-clear from the vet.
In Memory of Ridley
Injured and surrounded by the death of your mom and siblings, you reached out your paw to a kind man and were rescued from the side of the road. Taken in by caring people who could not allow a baby wild animal to suffer while calls for assistance to local wildlife experts and authorities went unanswered, you were nursed and loved until help was finally found, only to find there was no future due to the injuries you sustained. But your story touched many. The images and videos of your acceptance of the care from a species other than your own should teach us all a lesson. A lesson of love, of helping others, of taking the road that may not be easy, but is necessary. Thank you for that, Ridley. In your short life, you did accomplish much.
