"Every animal's life is meaningful and they all deserve loving homes."
The mission of The Ark Animal Sanctuary is to rescue and provide food, shelter,
medical assistance, love and compassion to any animal in need, regardless of age
and medical condition that cannot otherwise be placed with a contracted facility.
We will take full responsibility of every animal placed with us until they find new
loving and forever homes.
The Ark is a no-kill organization. Euthanasia will only be considered when a
veterinarian recommends it for the best interest of the animal.
We believe every animal's life is meaningful and they all deserve loving homes.
The Ark Animal Sanctuary is an all-volunteer, donor-supported registered 501(c)3
non-profit charitable organization.
Your donations are greatly appreciated and are tax-deductible.
We are always in need of Foster Homes for animals that come in and can't be placed immediately into permanent homes.
If you would like to be a temporary Foster Home for an animal in need (please note, we will provide for food & vet care), please complete & submit a Foster Application.
Lost your pet or found someone else's?
Please contact your town and ACO and local animal shelter with a description and supply
a photo, if possible. Every Maine town must contract with an animal shelter and strays/
animals-at-large are the responsibility of ACOs and those facilities. Getting a description
in front of these people will greatly help in getting found pets returned home.
You can also post on local radio, in newspapers and tv, as well as post fliers locally. Use Facebook and alert all your local friends.

In Memory of JACK
You came to us unwanted, unloved. Emaciated, almost fully hairless and so down in spirit it made us cry. For the last three months of your life you were loved & cherished by your foster home, by everyone who read your story & invested with their support and donations for your care and those who have set out to rally in your name at the trial of the person who was allowing you to suffer to death. We watched as your eyes brightened, your hair grew back, your weight increased, your ears perked up! It didn't take much to make you better, to help you. It just took Love. Losing you to a swift and aggressive cancer that crept in like a thief in the night has been very difficult to reconcile; but we do take comfort in the fact you will never ever suffer again and that you were loved, tremendously, through and beyond your last breath. And you Loved in return, unconditionally. We will cherish you always.
